Service Desk Thanksgiving Hours

During the Thanksgiving holiday break, the Service Desk (Main Campus and The Woodlands Center) will operate on a modified schedule.  The Service Desk will be open from 8:00am until 5:00pm Wednesday, November 26.  The Service Desk will be closed on Thursday, November 27 – Saturday, November 29.  Normal operating hours will resume at 7:30am on Monday, December 1.

System Maintenance

Power Transformer Change Out – CHSS Main Data Closet

July 25, 6:00pm – July 25, 7:00pm

IT will be changing out the power transformers attached to the UPS in the CHSS 1st Floor Data Closet.  This outage will affect all computer access, all wireless access, all telephone services and all network connected devices including fire alarms on the concourse, 1st, and 2nd floors of CHSS.

LDB Network Equipment Upgrade
July 26, 8:00am – July 27, 8:00am
A complete service outage on the 3rd and 4th floors of the Lee Drain Building is required to upgrade supporting equipment. This outage will affect all computer access, all wireless access, all telephone services and all network connected devices including fire alarms.

July 30, 6:00pm – July 27, 7:00pm
An update to Respondus will be deployed to all managed Windows computers.

Adobe Creative Cloud
August 1, 9:00pm – August 1, 11:00pm
Adobe Creative Cloud will be deployed to managed Windows computers in labs and classrooms.

Network Router Upgrade
August 8, 6:00pm – August 8, 10:00pm
IT will be updating a network router.  During this time, users will experience total loss of network access for thirty minutes within this time period.  This outage will affect all computer access, all wireless access, all telephone services and all network connected devices including fire alarms.

Internet Explorer Upgrade
August 8, 6:00pm – August 8, 10:00pm
The Internet Explorer browser will be upgraded from version 9 to version 11. The browser will be upgraded on all managed Windows workstations and the Remote.shsu.edu system as websites and client plug-ins and extensions are dropping support for Internet Explorer version 9.

Dining Information Updates

From 07/01 to 07/03 we are transitioning from our Nell-based dining system to the CBORD system. Meal plan sign ups for students are planned to be unavailable to students beginning 07/03 at 1:30pm. We hope to begin directing students to the new sign up page by 07/03 at 6pm.

Touchnet
July 11, 2:00am – July 11, 6:00am
TouchNet will be performing routine maintenance on the servers in the TouchNet DataCenter from 2:00 am to 6:00 am CT Friday, July 11th, 2014. During this maintenance window TouchNet will be unavailable.

Maplesoft Maple License Update
July 11, 6:00pm – July 11, 8:00pm
Maplesoft Maple license will be upgraded to version 18. Users may experience a brief outage during this time.

Banner ERP – Module Upgrades

Telephone System Update

IT@Sam will be upgrading the Telephone System. This will affect all telephones across campus, including but not limited to fire alarms and elevator phones. The expected outage for most phones will be about 10-30 minutes each.

SHSU Main Website Update
June 12, 6:00 pm – June 12, 8:00 pm
On 06/12/2014 from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM, emergency maintenance on the SHSU Main Website will take place to address back-end issues. At the beginning of this maintenance, there will be a brief outage of all web pages until the caching system detects the website maintenance. During the maintenance, some pages may be unavailable due to not being cached (i.e. pages not recently requested). Additionally, any website authoring performed through the DotCMS system will be unavailable.

Shockwave Player 12.1.1.151

A new version of Shockwave Player will be deployed to all managed Windows 7 computers.
