Can you believe it’s just a week and a half to go before classes start? We can’t either, which is why we’re making sure all of your labs, software, networks, and resources are ready to go.
If you will be on campus or using the following services, please make note of their maintenance and downtimes:
Server Maintenance (Remote.shsu.edu, PPL Power Monitoring, and Academic Shell Linux System)
On Friday, August 15, from 6pm until August 16, 12 am, server maintenance will be performed on remote.shsu.edu, the PPL Power Monitoring system, and the Computer Science Academic Shell System.
Clients should see no service interruption for the maintenance being performed on remote.shsu.edu, however a brief outage will be experienced on the PPL Power Monitoring System as well as the Computer Science Academic Shell system. The outages will occur during the outage time frame and should be brief. If issues are experienced with either of these systems after midnight on August 16, please contact the Service Desk.
SamNet Wireless Network Outage
On Saturday, August 16, between 12 – 1 am, maintenance will be performed on the SamNet wireless network that will cause service to be unavailable. This maintenance is to allow LoneStar College affiliates a login option for our wireless network while at The Woodlands Center.
If you missed our Wednesday post on next week’s training line-up, check it out here. We’ll be offering courses on SPSS and Photoshop, among other things.
One more notice before you head off to enjoy your Friday.
Change Freeze August 22 through August 30
Once August 22 is here, IT@Sam will only make system changes that are considered an Emergency or to restore a system to proper working order. This is called our Change Freeze, which will be in effect until August 30. This Change Freeze is put into place so that the processes used to enroll students and prepare courses are not adversely impacted.
If you have any questions, please contact the Service Desk (4-HELP), email: email@example.com, or live support: support.shsu.edu. And, don’t forget to follow us on Twitter and Facebook for up-to-date information.
