If you are having trouble setting up your network connection in your residence hall, please take a look at our setup guide. This guide will walk you through the process for connecting up to five devices (laptop, gaming console, router, etc.).
If you are still unable to connect your device(s), please make your way to the nearest Support Station with your device. We will have staff standing by ready to assist you. The locations of the Support Stations are:
- Lone Star Hall Lobby Kitchen Area;
- Sam Houston Village Lobby;
- Belvin Hall Lobby;
- Bearkat Village Clubhouse;
- Raven Village 2nd Floor Lounge.
Due to an extended power outage, there will also be a network outage on the northwest side of campus. Peabody, MLHB, Sorority Hill, Belvin and Elliot are all impacted by this outage. It is estimated that power should be restored by mid-afternoon today, November 4.
SHSU experienced an Internet outage from approximately 3:00 am until 5:00 am this morning, 10/23. IT@Sam is investigating the root cause of this outage, however, we wanted you to be informed in the event that this outage caused any issues for your students or processes during that time. On Saturday 07/13, IT@Sam plans to migrate the Domain Network and Wireless Network beginning at 5:00pm and we anticipate this taking our team approximately 6 hours to complete. What this means to you and your staff is that we will be moving any computer that is on the domain over to our new MPLS Network. The downtime for each computer should be approximately 30 minutes but we are not able to tell you exactly what time your building will be converted so are reserving the whole 6 hours. We have chosen this time to have the least impact to campus.
If you need notification as when the network is back up, please let me know. Off campus resources and remote.shsu.edu will be available from off campus, it is only the on-campus domain and wireless resources that will not be available.
On Saturday 07/20, we are also planning to migrate the Private Network and Voice Network to MPLS. The Private Network migration that will affect point of sale devices will take place from 1:30pm – 5:00pm. The Voice Network migration that will affect all telephone services will take place from 5:00pm – 8:00pm.
