SHSU Main Website Update

On 06/12/2014 from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM, emergency maintenance on the SHSU Main Website will take place to address back-end issues. At the beginning of this maintenance, there will be a brief outage of all web pages until the caching system detects the website maintenance. During the maintenance, some pages may be unavailable due to not being cached (i.e. pages not recently requested). Additionally, any website authoring performed through the DotCMS system will be unavailable.

A new version of Shockwave Player will be deployed to all managed Windows 7 computers.
IT@Sam would like to make sure that you are aware of system maintenance that will be occurring over the next few weeks.
On November 16, starting at 6 p.m. and concluding about 8 p.m., our networking staff will be changing out switches in the AB4, Farrington, and Lowman Student Center buildings. There will be intermittent outages in each of these buildings and will last no more than about 20 minutes total for each. The outage will not affect the entire building.
On November 26, starting at NOON and concluding at 2 p.m., the Ad Astra system will be upgraded. During this time you will not be able to make or request room reservations.
On November 30, starting at 6pm and concluding at approximately 3 a.m. on December 1, the Banner ERP system will undergo upgrades. During this time, Banner INB and SSB will be unavailable.
On December 18, starting at 6 p.m., the SHSU website template will be changed. There should be minimal, if any, downtime.

During the weekend of May 21st, SHSU has scheduled a major upgrade for the Nell administrative computing system and a migration of personal web sites over to S: drives. During the maintenance, SamMenu, SamWeb, Nell, eCollege and Banner Financial Aid will be unavailable, as will any updates to SHSU websites. The outage will start on Friday, 5/21, at 6 p.m. It is anticipated that all systems will be back up by 11:59 p.m. Sunday night, 5/23. The weekend after graduation is reserved for major maintenance for SHSU’s information technology infrastructure.

As mentioned in our April 2010 IR Update, we will be changing how you create and update your personal website. Here is the announcement:
Personal Web Sites: Migrating to Your S: Drive
In the past, having an SHSU web site has required you to either use SSH into UNX1 or map to your U: drive to add content to your web pages. It’s going to be easier very soon for your personal web page! After the Spring semester, we will be migrating all the content on your UNX1 account and it will be placed in a “_website” folder directly on your S: drive.
We’ll post more details later. Just wanted to provide an early heads-up to allow time for faculty preparing classroom instructions for students.
This change is scheduled for May 21st. If you are teaching a course that involves website creation, please update your curriculum to remove any references to SSH, FTP, unx1, or mapping your U drive.
